The Land and Water Boards have received the NWT Supreme Court’s injunction decision, halting the implementation of a restructured land and water Board in the Mackenzie Valley. The LWB’s will continue to operate in accordance with the existing legislation. Staff remain in place in all existing Board locations, and clients will see no interruption to proceedings as a result of the ruling.

New Maps
The SLWB has developed a series of maps related to Oil and Gas Activity and Current Authorizations in the Sahtu Settlement Area for public interest.
Sahtu Land Use Plan Approved
The Sahtu Land Use Plan has been approved and is effective as of August 8, 2013. The Sahtu Land and Water Board will work closely with the Sahtu Land Use Planning Board to ensure all future developments conform with the Plan. To view the plan go to the Sahtu Land Use Planning Board website.
Land and Water Boards Release New Valley-Wide Policies and Guidelines
The Mackenzie Valley, Gwich’in, Sahtu, and Wek’eezhii Land and Water Boards are pleased to announce the release of several important new policy and guideline documents. These documents were developed by the Standard Procedures and Consistency Working Groups and approved by the Mackenzie Valley Land and Water Board for application throughout the Mackenzie Valley. The new policies and guidelines will become effective June 1, 2013.

Public Information Sessions across the Sahtu

This is your opportunity to hear from these two regulatory agencies about activities in the Sahtu region and how our respective organizations operate.

Oil and Gas Activity Map Series
The Sahtu Land and Water Board has created a series of maps in relation to the 13 oil and gas exploration licences in the Tulita and K'asho Got'ine Districts. These maps identify which company holds each exploration licence, exploration work conducted back to 2010, as well as upcoming development for the winter of 2012-2013. The Land and Water Boards of the Mackenzie Valley have completed, and are pleased to present, a comprehensive draft policy framework related to community engagement and Board consultation under the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act (MVRMA).
Correction to "Clarification of Spill Reporting Expectations" Notice
The MVLWB has re-issued its Clarification of Spill Reporting Expectations notice to correct an error in the first bullet of the previous notice.

News Release: Land and Water Boards Comment on the 2010 NWT Environmental Audit

The Draft Engagement Policy and the Draft Guidelines for Applicants and Holders of Water Licences and Land Use Permits address concerns raised by Aboriginal governments/organizations and applicants to the regulatory process respecting consultation and engagement.
New Land and Water Board Standards for GIS and Other Document Submissions
Applicants and holders of water licences and land use permits will now need to refer to the Standards for Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Submissionsand the Document Submission Standards when submitting applications, plans, reports, GIS data, and other material related to their developments.
